Fair Housing

Start on:Friday, January 21, 2022

Ends on:Friday, January 21, 2022

Fair Housing 101 training is designed to make the public aware of the basic fair housing laws in their local jurisdiction. Participants will come away with a knowledge of who is protected by the Fair Housing Act, what behaviors violate the fair housing laws, and what to do when those laws have been violated. Training will cover the ways discrimination plays out in the marketplace that may be familiar to you and other ways that may be harder to catch.

Participants will delve into the rights of tenants as persons with disabilities, victims of domestic violence, citizens with limited documentation, and those with a history in the criminal justice system. At the end of the training, participants will be able to recognize when discrimination has occurred in rental, sales, or mortgage lending and be equipped with resources to help those who are experiencing issues with their housing provider. Everyone has a right to the housing of their choice in an environment suitable for peaceful living. This training aims to protect that right for everyone
